Community Service Opportunity

As part of this year's community service project, the AIA Associates are teaming up to participate in Canstruction. For those of you interested in a unique way to design and build with food cans, sign up to help our team get started!

Teams design and build giant structures made entirely out of canned foods to display locally. At the end of the competition the cans are given to local food banks for distribution to emergency feeding programs. For more information about Canstruction go to www.canstruction.org

Anyone and everyone is invited out for beer and pizza as the AIA Associates host Architecture on Tap, June 1st from 6PM-8Pm at Bryan Street Tavern! Join special guests Joe Buskuhl, David Zatopek and Todd Howard as we socialize with one another and raise a glass to architecture.

Dallas Premiere of Citizen Architect: Samuel Mockbee and the Spirit of the Rural Studio

Sign up to see the Dallas Premiere of Citizen Architect: Samuel Mockbee and the Spirit of the Rural Studio with special guest Deedie Rose, Wednesday, May 26th at 7PM, Magnolia Theater. The video follows Mockbee's Auburn University's design/build studio as they help craft a home for R&B artist Jimmie Lee Matthews. The film reveals that Rural Studio is more than design and building as it touches on issues of architecture's role on poverty, class, race, education, citizenship and social change.
There is no admission charge but you MUST register to attend. Contributions to Rural Studio are encouraged.

Dallas AIA Young Architects Forum to Host Pecha Kucha Night at the DCFA, June 24th - Call for Entries

This will be the first year the AIA Dallas YAF will host a Pecha Kucha Night at the DCFA. There is a call for entries of any art form (visual, performance, spoken word, etc.). If you would like to submit your work send it to aiadallasyaf@gmail.com . Please check out the YAF blog on the AIA website as this will be updated as speakers and artists are confirmed.
